- Galerias Pacifico: Its the
foremost shopping mall of Buenos Aires, located at less than 5 minutes
walk from the Hotel. All famous fashion brands are available here. Art
lovers should take time out to go to the Centro Cultural Borges
on the first floor to watch the Art Exhibition or enjoy one of the Theatre Shows.
- Florida, two blocks away from Vista Sol Hotel, is for
pedestrians only and one of the best shopping areas of the city. Here
you will also find some very characteristic traditional "confiterías", where you can
enjoy a coffee, a light lunch or a meal.
- Reconquista,
around the corner from the Hotel, is a traffic free street. If you are
an ice cream aficionado and want a special treat, go to Persico
located at the corner of Reconquista and Tucuman.
- Lavalle,
another pedestrian only street, is known for it´s cinemas where the
latest movies can be watched.
- San Martin Palace (Palacio San Martín): An Art
Nouveau mansion facing the Plaza San Martin which was built
for High Society Anchorena family. Nowadays it houses the Ministry of
Foreign Affairs.
- Santa Catalina Church (Iglesia Santa
Catalina) was the first convent in Buenos Aires (1745), it is located at
the back of the Galerias Pacifico. You can enjoy lunch in the
former court yard.
- Puerto Madero: the renovated docks of
Buenos Aires have been turned into a culinary paradise. If you are
looking for the best Argentinean
meat, go to Cabaña Las Lilas or La Caballeriza. Or
just go down there to take a walk and have a look at the architecture
or enjoy the breeze of the Rio de la Plata.
- Casa Rosada:
The seat of Government. Guided Tours are available during weekends.
- Obelisco:
Is located in the heart of Buenos Aires. Built in May 1936 it
commemorates the 400ths anniversary of the founding of the city.
- Cafe Tortoni: Its the most famous "confiteria" traditional Bar of Buenos Aires, located at Avenida de Mayo 825, between the Casa Rosada and the National Parliament Building. It opened it´s doors on 1858 and conserves the look and feel of that time. Don´t miss it!
- National
Congress (Congreso de la Nación): is situated at the end of Avenida de Mayo. It´s a popular
place for tourist and often chosen by protesters to make their feelings
known to their representatives inside the building!
- Colon Theatre (Teatro Colón) was built in 1908. It´s one of the best Opera Houses in the world
thanks to the acoustic. It´s situated on 9 de Julio Avenue, between
Libertad and Tucuman streets. It has recently been restored to it´s
former splendour and will reopen towards the end of May 2010.
